Where did the TVR vs Porsche rivallry come from?

I think it's the general snooty attitude of a lot of the Porsche following in stark contrast to the rather more down to earth TVR owner. Compare Porsche club GB to the TVRCC.
Probably also the old 'TVR reliability' thing, ah my TVR may be broken today but tomorrow it'll be fixed and still faster, louder, better looking, more unique... blah blah than your super beetle.

Had a meeting and turned up in the chim, the guy insisted on a drive and I let him.
Unbelievably, he didn't get out of 2nd gear, (it was in Wimbledon), kept muttering about build quality of the Porsche but listen to that sound of the TVR!
Saw him later on last year when he had changed his car.
Yep, you guessed, didn't have a tiv, just a shiny DB9
, he bought it with his redundancy package!
