Peugeot 407 coupe
Discussion
I don't have a coupe, but a normal one with 2.0 turbo diesel. The engine is great - pulls like you would expect, but i have had some electrical gremlins. The most significant of which was ABS & ESP systems shutting down whilst descending a very icy and snowy hill.
It seemed to reset itself eventually but that was scary.
The diesel cars have particulate filters as well with additive, this can go wrong and be expensive to fix.
Then there is the common issue with the dual mass flywheels - i'm pretty sure mine is on it's way out - £500 fitted.
That said it does EVERYTHING i need it to. Will eat miles like you wouldn't believe and is very comfortable.
Mine has some toys like bluetooth, dual zone climate control etc. so it's not a bad place to be.
Maintain it and it will see you alright, ignore things and it'll hurt.

I was about to say that you're clearly bonkers, but then saw how cheap they are:

Tempting, as i've driven the 2.7HDi Auto, and its a wonderful wafter.

Had one for 18 months and then sold it - dropped £9k in that time. Looks are not to everyones taste (like marmite) but certainly make it distinctive. Did 30000 miles and it was 100% reliable. Great GT, covered motorway miles effortlessly and in almost complete silence (double glazed front windows). Read an article in Autocar a couple of years ago which said that the line in Rennes that it is assembled on runs at half the speed of the 'cooking' models to ensure that time and care is given to ensure quality is top-notch - certainly worked on mine.
In the end got bored with the boulevard ride and now drive a GTI Mk5 DSG and loving it!

I ran a 2.7hdi for 60,000 miles... was a great car.. bit heavy on front tyres but withthe old magic box plugged in it scared many a chump who didnt know what it was....
doesnt rust.
build quality was great (the coupes are built on the same line as the C6 citroens away from the regular PSA stuff)
toys galore
and cheap as chips.

Had one for three years and 26000m. Absolutely nothing went wrong..nil..nada. The only time it saw a garage was for a service that cost £132. (And two new tyres). Excellent build quality, had nothing but praise from everyone that ever sat in it. Ride was fantastic. Bought it new with a masive discount. Lost £6500 over the 3 years, which isn't much if you say it quickly.
It was the longest I ever owned a car and only sold because I needed a hatch with extra rear room.

The only really modern cars that I've noticed rusting are Mercs.
rust on a merc this side of y2k w210 would surprise me.Regarding the 407 Coupe, I think they are fantastic looking cars, just like the 406 Coupes were. I don't see what else that sort of money buys that looks that good frankly if we are talking similar cars/specs. Plus they aren't a trend car that everyone buys into because if the badge.
Reports seem to be generally very positive with just the usual Pug foibles being the issues eg. electrical gremlins.
I'd seriously consider one for the right money, but it would have to come with a comprehensive warranty.
