Does anyone know about combi boilers and can help me this freezing morning?

I have cold water coming into the kitchen and bathroom sink cold taps and bath tap.
I have no water at all coming out of the kitchen or bathroom taps or the mixer shower.
Central heating appears to be working fine.
Boiler on "eco" mode does not fire up when switched off to keep a tank of hot water available in the boiler.
Boiler about 1.5 bar (which I think is normal?).

Can't see any signs of frozen pipes in the house or loft, or to and from the boiler.

I am now having wait in all day (because obviously people don't have to go to work for a living) until they call me back (not even come and have a look)!

Can any one help?

Thanks

looked at all the pipes I can get to, don't feel cold to touch, no splits or bulges in pipes. No water leaking anywhere!

Sounds very much like a frozen pipe. Not a lot in a combination boiler can actually STOP water flowing through it, except for isolating valves which would have to be shut manually.

Thank you, thought it might be something like that as it is so cold. I still have nothing! Its strange cos the cold water is running fine and not frozen. ?

I can only assume it's a cold pipe going into the boiler OR a hot the other side. Pipes, in reality, rarely freeze. Have you got pipes through a loft space or similar??

through the loft yes - I did visit the loft but not sure whether pipes are into or out of the boiler. Didn't notice anything odd though. might have another look see...

Hope its not a pipe, not covered for that!

Are the pipes in the loft insulated?

With a combi boiler it is highly unlikeley that they will be feed pipes to the boiler. They will come from the ground almost straight into the boiler (normally via somewhere under the kitchen sink etc)

It is most likeley that the pipes in the loft are those between the boiler and wherever you're not getting flow.

Be warned that if a pipe has frozen, it could have split the pipe so that it floods the house when it thaws out!

If you only have a small amount of piping in the loft, try placing a fan heater near them to warm them slightly. However I'd suggest you sit there and keep an eye on it whilst you do this and also that you know where the main stop-tap is.

Thank you all for your help. Boiler and hot water now seems to be working (?).

The loft pipes are insulated and I have now checked them twice for leaks, can't see anything. Have added extra insulation now though. Also now done the outside tap!

Must have been something to do with the cold weather but no idea what!

Also the neighbours are having the same issues, maybe it is a house designed and heating thing?
