What's wrong with my washing machine?
Discussion
Trying to diagnose what is wrong with my washing machine, my initial thoughts were the bearings but now I'm not so sure. It's an Indesit W123S.
The drum is occasionally stiff to turn, or has a tight spot in the rotation. Although at the moment it turn free and smooth. It was virtually seized the other day, causing the belt to jump off, but it seems fine now.
Occasionally, clothes will come out with black oil stains on them in a polka dot pattern matching the holes in the drum.
It was draining slow, but it's now fixed.
The only things I have been able to do so far are the obvious stuff:
I've checked the drain from the drum and pulled out a sock, which explains why it was draining slowly.
I checked the trap at the drain pump and found a 1p coin.
I put the drive belt back on, it looks in good nick.
The drum turns freely at present, with no obvious play. Could the bearings still be at fault?
Would appreciate any help.

most likely an article of clothing is stuck between tub and inner drum. can only suggest sticking your head in the door with a torch in your hand and look through the holes in the drum and see if you can see it.
Thanks, just done as you suggested, not easy to tell but it looks all clear.callyman said:
Does the drum spin freely with the drive belt removed? i.e. is the motor at fault?
The whole lot is free turning at the moment, I didn't check it without the belt on when it was tight before.Anyhow, I put it back to together and tried it a few minutes ago it was making some funny noises when spinning, then it decided to pour loads of water over the kitchen floor. It had vibrated the inlet pipe off the top of the drum!
I'm just gonna buy a new one I think....
