In our old house, the wooden framed windows are pretty much flush to the walls (the frame sticks out about 1") so no hollow recess in which the window sits. All pics I see online of fitted Venetian blinds use the wall recess to fix the blinds in, which I dont have. What's best?

Do you have a vertical or a horizontal surface to mount the header on ?
Most (if not all) blinds will cater for both

there's about a 3" tall flat vertical area that's part of the wooden surround, so maybe that'll do the trick.
Being a cheat, I've just called Hillarys for a chap to come looksee.
