Green types disapprove....

Earlier today I was burbling away at tickover waiting at some lights only to have Mr and Mrs Eco making disapproving looks at me.
I could hear them saying about wasting fuel (roof down) and shaking their heads, making sure I could see them. I looked over only for them to continue shaking their heads and asking why anyone needs a car like that in this day and age.
Anyway, my laughing at them and a bit of noise in first and second as I drove away probably angered them to boiling point.
I've driven many cars over the years, and have never encountered the Green Peace brigade, yet only 10 days into TVR ownership I have annoyed someone
Usually, all I get is
from pedestrians. Odd bunch these environmentally friendly types......
Anyway, I collected the Chim on the 23rd December, have covered 800 odd miles since and have spent rather a lot on fuel. I can say with some certainty that it is the best car I have ever owned. Not sure what took me so long.

i live in an area where there are plenty of tree hugging swamp lovers, although i have never had any issues with the car, the local shops all stock fair trade tea, coffee, sugar and all sorts of wonderful crap which is great and the greenies love it.
What they dont seem to understand is that our little V8's (that to be fair don't do a huge amount of miles) produces far less carbon than the 3rd world lorries and huge planes used to fly this s

lol - I once had the Green Party knock at my front door canvasing.
I pointed to my Griffith, Land Rover Discovery and AMG Mercedes sitting in the garage and just shook my head - they sloped off without a word. 10.5 litres of Petrol V8 and 2.7 litres of V6 Diesel seemed to get the message across

5/10 for effort. The correct way to deal with this (and its happened to me twice) is to hold your ear and mouth 'cant hear you' while revving the engine. They will throw their hands up or make other gestures indicating your are mad. Rev again and shrug , this time mouthing 'what ? sorry ?'.
Just tell them the only way mankind will seriously start researching and developing viable alternatives to fossil fuels, is when stocks run dangerously low. Tell them that in view of this you are actually doing the world a favour by burning up as much as you can.
Then roar off in a cloud of tyre smoke leaving a nice parallel 11 behind you.

I'd consider myself green, but I never look disapporvingly at cars (except 4x4s parked over two bays....hehe). Anyhow, my point is, just because someone drives a high performance car, doesn' mean they don't give a toss about the environment. I was on a jolly last summer (both days) and ended up in Totnes Devon. Well know for its 'odd' types.
I parked in carpark and went for a coffee with my friend, about an hour later came back to find three people around my car. They then started to go on about how my car was killing everything in view and how was i able to sleep at night. I asked them what they were driving and got " Diesel Mondeo" because it is better for environment etc....I pointed to my tax disc. Then to the one they had, explained that mine was cheaper because it was more friendly to the environment. They said they were shocked that a noisy/sporty car could be ECO friendly and walked off happy.

te all the time. In a convertible you might hear it, that's all. In reality the types who start to claim your sports car is environmentally unfriendly are the same types who are jealous of their neighbour's larger house, their neighbour's better looking wife and even their neighbour's better looking dog.The joy of this is that they go through life feeling inadequate and unhappy with everyone else - their "lot" is never good enough for them.

You should ask them about the cost to the environment of continually getting new cars that are supposedly eco-friendly when only measured on the road...
