Hi,

My Potterton Performa System HE boiler is pissing water on the floor, I have a good suspicion that its from the condensate tank but I would like to test it, so..........

Can I force it to dump the condensate down the drain? I notice there are 2 wires on the top of the tank, one goes to the pcb the other to earth, would it be correct in thinking that it is looking at the potential between the 2 and if say they were shorted together it would activate the drain sequence?

I'm not familiar with the boiler, but the two wires are generally to tell the boiler to shut down because the trap is full due to a pipe blockage. Boiler SHOULD just run constantly away to drain when it's working, if it's like almost all condensing boilers.

Most boilers use a type of auto syphon. The products of condesation will gather in a container and eventually fill up, spill over and some trickery happens and all the products get dumped out through the condensate pipe. As Ferg said those wires are most likely a sensor.

Physically check the joint where the condensate pipe joins the boiler, its the most likely place for a leak to be.

Also, did you have heavy rainfall, certain boilers have been known to allow water in through the flue.

Found the fecking problem, I pulled the condensate tank out to find one of the pump connections leaking frown

Looks like an O-Ring job to me, I've got someone coming round to remove a fire so I'll get them to look at the boiler at the same time.
