I accidently broke the headboard in the mother in law's spare room - broke one of the bedknobs off (and I was only leaning on it, honest). It looks like it is plastic covered in gold paint and has completely shattered. Someone somewhere must sell these things, as they just slot in the top of the bed posts, but googling and ebay have only found expensive brass ones. I don't really want to buy her a new headboard and unfortunately it aparently has sentimental value. I'm not at home and don't really know the area.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Would hardware shops have this kind of stuff or is this more specialised? Cheers smile

How about a shop that sells curtain tracks/runners. They often have those fashionable poles with fancy balls/twirly things that one sticks in their ends. Might have something suitable as a bed-knob.

You require a specialist curtain pole wholesaler/retailer,even a department store like John Lewis. who might supply finials only, being the ball/knob at either end of a curtain pole.

This link will give you an example of designs that might suit your requirements.
