Plug extenders...

Do you need to use supressed plug extenders with Magnecor plug leads or doesn't it matter whether you use suppressed or unsupressed ones?

Unsuppressed are fine, the leads are already resistive

I looked at these plug extention things and could'nt see the point of them... Yep plugs and leads are always a nightmare to change on the V8s tvr used.... but putting the extentions in there is (i think) adding a weak point for the spark. you could get double sparking in this point of the system leading to miss fires

Well the reasoning behind them is to push the ends of the plug leads further away from the heat of the exhausts.

The way it was explained to me is that with a normal manifold when the exhaust pipes head immediately downwards the plug leads don't get so cooked but with the Tiv because the manifolds go forwards there's a huge heating effect on the leads which causes them to go brittle over time (plus they're forced very close to the manifolds and can foul them and melt). The extenders just take the leads and space them away to relieve that a bit.

I just changed my leads and all of them go above the water pipes on the AJP and dont come close to the exhaust manifolds...
Just seemed to me like another weak link!!

Ah yes - on the RV8's that isn't the case though.
