Lambos in Stockholm
Discussion
Just returned from a brief trip to Sweden (-30C never felt so good! Ice Hotel's interesting if anyone's considering it) and stayed in a hotel in Stockholm next to a Bentley dealer.
Gallardo and Murci in situ, along with Continental GT.
Boring bit first - the GT wasn't as fugly as I thought it would be. Bruiser of a car, and the rear end is a bit odd, but the car wasn't *that* bad. Anyone over 55 with a fat wad and penchant for sheepskin and big cigars should definitely take a look
Onto the interesting stuff:
The Gallardo was actually much better in the flesh than in the photos. This one was metallic black.
The rear is certainly not the best aspect of the car, and it still looks more like a Celica than it should, but it's nice enough.
Sadly (for it) it was sat next to a metallic yellow Murci. Which made the Gallardo look like Mr Bean trying to pass himself off as a bouncer.
The one detail I don't like about the Murci are the sill air intakes. Too bulbous. Would have been much better if these were more flush with the sides.
The Murci also didn't look anywhere near as big as I'd previously thought. Perhaps it was the yellow colour playing tricks.
Either way, if I were going to go the route of the bull, it would simply have to be a Murci.
Now just need to spend a bit of time convincing myself that the running costs would be worth it. And that I could get enough camping gear in the front to live in

Worth it I'd say you know you want one. I saw a yellow one here in Telford and it had a road presence like nothing else
Love em. come lottery winning time its my first stop
followed by ruf R turbo a 575 and a Pagani.
But Lambo first

I dunno. Seems that sales numbers tell the sory, eh?
Lambo sales numbers are at an all time high, so what numbers are you talking about??? I dont think its their plan to win the fleet car sales awards this year.
Oh please...from the North American sale/resale figures available for all to read, they're being discounted already over there! Look in any issue of AutoWeek, DuPont Registry, or even the indigenous T&CC.
However, I do have to agree, selling hundreds of cars instead of the usual dozens of cars certainly does make sales numbers at an all time high....zzzzz.

But, the fact clearly remains from the No.Am. (and now European) sale/resale figures available for all to read, they're being discounted already! Look in any issue of AutoWeek, DuPont Registry, or even the indigenous T&CC.

Hydra, are all your seven heads up your arse at present? You are 18 right? You have not driven a Gallardo right?
Surely it's about time we began to appreciate what Lambo have managed to achieve recently ? Not only have they continue to produce beautiful cars that perform; but they are now fast becoming the sharpest kids on the block.....
So instead of trying to find envious faults.... why don't we lose the cheap shots and applaud them for pushing to the edge of the envelope !
Just my humble opinion of course.....

Irrespective of whether they are being discounted, to me the Murcielago is simply the best car on the market at any price range.
It has just as much if not more road presence as an Enzo or Zonda and is within spitting distance of the performance of the 2 supercars of the moment (Porsche Carrera GT and Merc SLR) both of which cost almost double the price.
Sales figures at this end of the market mean absolutely nothing.
I spent more time at the SeeRed festival at Donnington last weekend looking at Simonspider's chrome orange Murcie than I did with the Enzo or Zonda there.

My next car is probably going to be a Gallardo. Have to wait year or two though
Why?
1) It's small enought for me to still drive round the back roads.
2) It looks the Dogs B, but has to be in Orange
3) Lambo is just a cool name
4) Rearer than a 360(Still need to test drive a 360)
5) 4wd, V10 ......... hmmmmmmmmmmm
6) Fits in the garage
The only negative is the doors. I know it's sad but i wanted the Murci Doors.

Your right.
Mate of mine test drove one on a benchmarking exercise for 2 day track and roads he said that V10 is amazing. Of course the real amazing thing is it's a V8 4.2 audi engine with 2 more cylinders and it's produced on the same producion line (I'm lead to believe) therefor you know it's going to be reliable and last for 100,000 miles plus without any trouble.
If I could have one I would have one ....simple.
The 360 had a 5yr production run. I wonder how rare the Gallardo will be in 5yrs by comparison.
Also, bolting on 2 extra cylinders wipes out any history based reliability record.
Allan - presumably this was a manual Murci? Do you know how many clutches they used? I'm keen to be looking seriously into a Murci next year, but hear clutches are easily fried and cost rather a lot to replace...not that I can see this little hiccough stopping me!
