Best alcohol to accompany a diet?

Stay away from beer, lager, or cider, they have far more calories than you'd guess. I doubt there is much really (in dietary terms) between wine and spirits.
Think there's about 600-700 calories in a bottle of wine, and 50 in a 25ml shot of vodka. Though all depends how big your measures are I suppose
If on a diet nothing alcoholic is best........ not preaching, I enjoy a drink (those that know me will LOL at that understatement) but keep to clear drinks, I can't touch any spirits but Vodka, so can't comment on the others but vodka is (IMO) ok but most mixers aren't so white wine, a decent Pinot or if you are flush then a good champers chilled to icy (IMO) is the tops but go for something other than the brands, Moet ditto Cristal eugh (IMO I may have no taste buds)....... if you want to go middle of the road for a really tasty champers I would recommend Jacquart, not pricy but very enjoyable and better than a Cava. If you want a guzzling Cava then Calamino does it for me......
but what do I know
but what do I know

There's some definite delusion going on here with regards to Vodka!
A single 25ml measure of Vodka contains 55 calories. Given that nobody actually serves themselves single 25ml measures at home, you're talking at least 110-150 calories per drink.
So if you have a couple of Vodka & sodas of an evening, you're consuming at least 10% of your daily recommended calorie intake in those two drinks.

However, if you drank the same amount of alcohol through a beer based delivery system, you'd consume 500 calories.

Although I think Champagne is also very low calories hence why the celebs drink it. Gin I think is on a par with Vodka as well.
