S1/?

Hi All.

Has anybody seen a S with old style Mini MK 1/2 external chrome door hinges, I have been doing some drawings of these with the chrome ones and doing the same on the boot, just an idea, I have new inserts for my doors but not got round to doing them.
Just looking for new ideas for the rebuild, was thinking of chrome door mirrors as well.

Was there a padlock hasp on the boot ?

Ok, bit more seriously, think chrome mirrors could look good (after all door handles, headlamp surrounds,badges etc are chrome)and maybe change wipers to chrome also ?

BUT apart from (IMHO) looking awfull think there would be big problems mounting external hinges and preventing cracking/splitting etc. around the stud holes. Doors may be fibre glass but still quite heavy with trim, glazing and so on.

have you weighed the fully made up mini and S1 doors to see if they are similar?

IMHO even if the S1 doors are lighter there will be gel coat cracking after a while (could take years and be manageble)

Hi All.
Not looked at anything, just the weather is so bad and I want to get a move on with the car, lots of time doing nothing so I guess I have just been looking for things to put on when I can do something.
Have the seats ready to go to the upholsters, have the dash in doors ready for the gauges / switches ect to go back and a loom to splice in but she doesn't like the car bits in the house, need to fit a few bits to the breaks and column before they can go back but it all takes time and as I have no place to work inside I will have to find a small workshop ASAP or wait for warmer weather.
We are going (hoping) to drive to Hungary in August 2010 so I need to move on and get it finished.

philpot look at minispares.com put in mirrors gam110 and 111 ould look ok to me
when i see them on minis i think they look to BIG but may-be on an S

look pretty good to me, but think its Alan who's actually contemplating "going chrome"

I've got the satin black "Tex" mirrors on mine (as per many an MG or Triumph etc.)GAM154A / 155A.
would have liked the bit bigger black Ford mirrors from Mk1 Escorts, early Capri's and so on but the few that turn up fetch big bucks on ebay

Hi Paul.
I have to do a respray so I was looking at Red with chrome work, I have a pr of Peugeot 207cc Elec folding heated indicator mirrors from Ebay that I know I can get the chrome covers for, as for the other things I need for the car, most was in crap condition or missing I need lots of trim bits so I may as well go for chrome.
