Quick Dimension Please!

Morning and merry Christmas all,

Now I've woken from a food induced coma, does anyone know the hole position for the steering column in the front bulkhead?

Have seen it is a 28mm hole, but can't find the dims for the centre of it

Its shown on a diagram on the build CD.....had the same problem myself, I didn't make mine 28mm...just spent time aligning the rack, joints etc so the steering assembly runs true. Also this polishing the shaft business so it turns in the bushes is a load of Bo&%£$£x, the bushes have sufficient measured running clearance when installed in their mtg bkts, its the misalignment of the welded mountings which causes binding. If you spend some time aligning the bush mounts before fitting the bushes the unpolished column spins very freely and has its correct running tolerance.....no excess lift in my column bushes at all.

When looking from the front of the car.
Measure 44mm down from top of chassis rail.
Measure 268mm from inside of chassis round tube on the left. This should then leave 372mm to inside of tube on the right.
These figures will be reversed for a LHD car.

Now get back out to the garage.

Have just looked all over the build manual, no mention of the steering column hole anywhere, not even a picture, have had to turn the BBQ on to stay warm!!

The steering column hole position diagram is accessed via a link from the page detailing the fitting of the front bulkhead aluminum panel.

I did it yesterday and Steve's measurements are spot on (as usual).
