What is the simplest (ok, cheapest) way to fix a broken bracket for the drivers side support on the seat?

Mine broke quite early on and TVR (or it might have been the dealer) welded it back together

Since then I slide the seat back to get out and slide it forward again when I get in, saves pushing against the side bolster all the time and it has been fine since then (about 2.5 years now)

Any clues on how to remove the steel rod from the seat side support? I can get to the bottom bolt, but not sure how to get to the top...

I think it has been posted on here in the past, that Andy from APM can fix it, I think he welds it up and it was not expensive.
