Using SDHC card in Lumix camera

Dad just opened his Lumix FZ38 camera and is eager to take some xmas day snaps but of course no SD card was included.

Thought aha! can use the 4gb SDHC card from my Audi satnav system but camera does not like card, card has mp3 files on it but plenty of space.

Do you need to re-format such a card before you can use it in the camera?

The FZ38 certainly supports SDHC so it's probably a formatting issue, clear off any files you need, pop it into the camera and let it format it for you in it's preferred way

Bit tight not giving you a card though, I thought they were stingy when they gave me a 256mb with my FZ30.

Google seems to think the camera likes 4Gb SDHC cards, so if there's nothing precious in terms of MP3 files, let the camera format it, and happy snapping
