Happy Christmas! Just been trying to take some piccies of the day and have a problem. Current camera, 5-y-o Canon PowerShot A95, has just started to give up. The screen/digital focus often doesn't want to know it and looks like a telly that has no aerial attached. So I need a replacement.

OK, features...

Well, I like the A95 cos it has a full manual mode and isn't as big or complex as an SLR, so that's must. I've also found it to be fairly intuitive to use - not looked at the instruction book since got the hang of it 5 years ago. Video's a bit rubbish, so have not made much use of it - might be a nice-to-have.

Drawbacks have been need for 4 AA batteries which makes it not-so-compact, and need for CF card which can now be hard to find. Also lag time between deciding the shot and the shot being taken has been frustrating at times, though no complaints about picture quality.

So, what do I follow it with??? Not sure of budget - the Canon cost AU$550 at the time, which is about GBP300 at today's rate, so use that as a guide.

Thanks in advance.
