Wishbones clunking..?

Get a loud clunk from what I presume are the wishbones - especially the front nearside - when I go over bumps/potholes etc...

Is this usual, and just a feature of the design, or does it point to anything being loose, etc...?

I would check the drop links or it could be a bush or ball joint? should not clunk.

I used to get a clunk and a creak going over speed bumps and potholes. turned out to be knackered wishbone droplinks. Replaced with Steve heath rose jointed jobbies, big improvement and worth doing even if that isnt the cause of your clunking.

As well as bushes it could be the front shock.

If the bushes are the oem type and no thrust washers are fitted, the wishbones can move back and forward when the bushes delaminate, which might knock.

Jack the car up and see.. It may be just as simple as the springs being too short?
