Just a quick question I have narrowed down to these 2 is there anything massively different between the 2 in performance terms ?

Live View and SD compatibility are the only 2 I can see and seeing as I already have CF and live view doesn't interest me what else is there?

1000D has a 7 point af, think the 400D has a 9 point improved af?

1000D can only do 1.5 fps in raw

Dont think theres much else huge between them.

Assume that you mean the 450d rather than the 400d (the 400d doesn't have LiveView or SD compatibility).

The 450d comes with the new IS version of the 18-55 kit lens whilst the 1000d comes with the old pre-IS version. The IS version is apparently much, much better.

I stand corrected.

Jesspos sell the 1000d with the non IS lens and the 450d, but clearly that's not always the case.

Having had a 400d for quite a while now I thought it worth checking - are you thinking new, and if so have you given any thought to something like a used 40d instead? Just a though.

Love my 400d.

It's a nice light camera to begin with. Not too much stuff on it to baffle you although once you start using it properly it's amazing how many features are on it. All I would say is buy some decent quality lenses. Makes a big difference to the standard 18-55mm that comes with it.

Considering a 1000D at the moment, and frankly, there isn't much between the 400D and 1000D.

Our 400D just died hence the need for a replacement.

My problem is slightly different though; 7D or 1000D+more glass.
