Getting snow and salt off my chassis

As some of you may have seen in general gassing, I had to move my TVR in the bad weather due to chav problems. This mean a lot of snow and gritting salt getting on my chassis. I cleaned them out as best I could, but what's the best way to get it out? I couldn't really ask for a hose pipe to clean the underside of the car as it was snowing like hell at the time. Will the salts damage the chassis, as I reckon it'll be a week or so before I can get to clean it properly?

Get under the car with a hose pipe and wash down thoroughly with clean cold water to rinse all the salt off.

You do get a bit wet so swimwear is advised

When you say UNDER, do you mean just lie under it? I have no jack or axle stands etc yet (monetary issues). Also, should I do this immediately, or just as soon as the weather is reasonable?

I don't think its important you do it straight away, when the weather is a bit better.

An easier way would be to put a garden sprinkler attachment onto the hosepipe and put under the car. Saves getting an ice cold drenching (must be a soft Southerner approach!)

Couldn't you just spray the chavs with water then run over them backwards and forwards? That way you'd get the chassis washed and brushed at the same time.

I don't think its important you do it straight away, when the weather is a bit better.

Exactly - a couple of weeks won't make a huge amount of difference, especially if your chassis has recently been wax-oiled.
No need to jack the car up just put the nozzle of the hose under the car and liberally spray all the chassis you can see, moving round the car as you do so! Alternatively something I occasionally do, slide a garden sprinkler on low pressure under the car!

Just give it a rinse underneath with the hosepipe. It will be fine.

...and ignore all the childish comments from those who should know better.

eta: Have you got a car cover ? Might reduce the attention from scrotes, and keep the weather out.

Nah, the banter is ok! I don't mind.

And yes, the car was under a tarp when the chavs saw it. I think they can tell by the two exhaust pipes sticking out the back. It's at my mum's house now in the garage. I'll give it a rinse down as soon as I get chance (I can imagine my mum kicking off if I ask to use the hosepipe in this weather....she's a loon).
