I was unfortunate enough to be caught up this week in the chaos at Paris CDG, as a result of snow, when Air France decided it would be a jolly good idea to cancel most of flights to the UK (dunno why, others where leaving albeit delayed).

Finally got back around to the UK 21 hours later than planned, but between CDG and Air France they (unsurprisingly) lost my bag (hold luggage)...

I've reported this at the airport, but I'm curious to know my rights in the event of the bag not turning up

It was a business trip so I don't know about insurances and such the like.

Any ideas about what to do if the bag is "lost" and when can I claim it being lost forever?

TIA

From past experience it will turn up. Probably the day after you start to list everything in it.
You should have got a form from the baggage handler at the airport this should explain next steps.

Good luck. Been there a number of times and every time it has re-appeared. Even when I've written it off.

KLM lost a bag in Joburg (we had 2 bags, both tags went on one bag). It turned up 2 weeks later, with nothing stolen!

The lost luggage people found the only contact details in the bag (wedding invite, so the bride's parents) - and eventually found us. Arrived the next day!

Did they give you any cash for not delivering your bag?

laughFew years back I flew to Boston on the 22nd December, both mine and the Mrs bags went AWOL. I seem to remember being able to claim about £50 from the insurance company, needed to receipt everything. Complete PITA. Luggage turned up on the 24th which relieved the Mrs somewhat.

A mate and I flew to LAX with BA last month. Our bags didn't arrive due to a security incident at T5 the morning we flew out, along with about 40 others on our flight. BA gave us 50 bucks each, which bought me a nice jumper in the Thanks Giving sales. Better than a kick in the teeth I guess.
