Salt on roads, do you still take her out?

The poor old girl has spent ages in the garage due to the stupidly wet recent months, now we're getting nice dry roads, but that means that the gritters are the night before!!

So, how much harm will it cause he chassis if I take her out knowing the gritters were out last night? Should it be a big 'no-no'

Main roads round here are absolutly covered in it. Trouble is the back roads are compacted snow and sheet ice so even if the S was taxed its staying under cover.

Well I had the most fun in ages today when I put the roof down, grabbed the ski jacket and race gloves and blasted down to Richmond Park. Back end stepped out at least four times at very low speeds (haven't experienced that in the whole year I've owned it). With the crisp blue sky, car running beautifully, numerous and it was one of my best days out yet.

Made all the better by Guy ('Rower' - who I've never met!) running over as I sat at some traffic lights in Richmond shouting, "Pistonheads, Pistonheads....are you on Pistonheads?!"

"Ah, er, yes" says I.
"I'm Guy, Rower...what's your tag?"
"Ah, Guy, it's The Stiglet, Pierce!"
Lights change to green.
"PIERCE! Hello! She's looking gooooooooood......"

Took my S2 this weekend for a blast, I'm not far from Richmond Park as live near Kingston / Esher

As long as the chassis has some waxoil or similar on it and the salt is not left there for ages you'll be fine. All I do is use a normal garden sprinkler on a low pressure and leave it running for a while to wash the salt residue away. Not that my S is going anywhere at the moment - I've had 2 scary moments this week on the A47 at sub 40mph in my Golf

Ahhh, that's what's mine is getting done this monday. It's then going in a heated garage to dry out. Once this weather has gone and the salt is gone, I'll be taking Trev out a lot more. Cold, clear days = good running.
