Appalling Service From Photobox
Discussion
I ordered £125 worth of Christmas cards on Monday with the Photobox website clearly stating that the cards would be printed and posted by today. I also paid for upgraded courier delivery to ensure that they would be delivered asap.
Having not yet received any dispatch e-mail I've just called Photobox to be told that "we've had a problem printing your cards" and that I may want to cancel the order and receive a full refund.
Supposedly they're currently reprinting the cards, but they won't be dispatched until next week - certainly after Royal Mail's last posting date for Christmas delivery.
I can understand that a company will face problems every now and again, but for their answer to these problems to be simply to scrap the order and give a refund rather than try to correct the situation is pretty appalling service IMO. I've used Photobox many times before and have always been pleased with the service they have offered, but I won't be giving them another chance.
Twa$tards!

I've used Photobox without problem. It seems to me what they are saying is 'Due to unforseen problems, we may not be able to supply your order in time for you to make use of it. In that case, you may want to give consideration to cancelling your order, and we will give you a full refund.'
Surely that's better than stringing you along with promises of a delivery, which they may not be able to keep, just to keep hold of your money. At least you have the option to get your order printed somewhere else.

Your project planning was as tight as mine!
Have decided that e-cards and a donation to charity is a better deal!
Yup, I've just sent ecards out to just about everyone on the companies email contacts list. All done 'in recognition of our new environmental policy' (let's hope no one wants to actually see it Have decided that e-cards and a donation to charity is a better deal!
) with some guff about a charity we've worked with.Bunged a hundred quid to said charity and slapped their logo on the email for that extra hint of CSR.
I was quite proud of it actually!

I've stopped using Photobox for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, I started getting some prints back with a blue hue on them (my machine is calibrated weekly), and then I started getting them back with some random cropping on them.
I don't spend a fortune on kit, so that when the end result is printed it's not as intended, so now I'm looking elsewhere again.

This is how the conversation went:Surely that's better than stringing you along with promises of a delivery, which they may not be able to keep, just to keep hold of your money. At least you have the option to get your order printed somewhere else.
Me: Hi, I ordered a batch of Christmas cards a few days ago but am yet to receive a dispatch notice despite your website showing that they should have been sent by now, could you please check the order?
Photobox 'Customer Service': I'm just checking the notes and we appear to have had problems printing the order, do you want to cancel?
Me: WTF?
It's only natural that some orders will not process as smoothly as hoped and sometimes mistakes will happen, but on this occasion Photobox showed little concern that they'd messed the order up and appeared to want to rid themselves of the problem rather than try to rectify it. There's now no chance of getting 100+ bespoke cards printed as far as I can see, unless you're able to recommend another service?
I tried to call Photobox today at 4:55pm as I'd wanted to give them as much time as possible to try to rectify the problem, but before I'd even had a chance to speak the phone line was cut on the several occasions I tried to call them. Very very poor service.
