Israel fury over British war crimes warrant for Tzipi Livni
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article69...

I think it would be wise for us to stay out of this conflict.

Who on Earth is responsible for allowing this warrant to be issued? Simply nothing good can come of it, irrespective of the rights or wrongs.

I wonder if a warrant is out for Zimbabwe-Bob? scratchchin

Don't think we can stay out of it as we created the situation in the first place. Another triumph for the great boob W. Churchill.

A very, albeit unenforceable, astute move.
Irrespective of "rights or wrongs" let them stand up in Court and defend their actions in Gaza.
Hopefully setting a precedent for bLiar.

A bit off-topic, but have you ever seen the very impressive list of things that that nation has invented and/or produces?

As long as they issue a tit-for-tat warrant for Billy Liar I don't care.

falafel? i'll give em that smile

i have just done a little googling and can't find anything other than solar/geoothermal technology. any links or perhaps a list off the top of your head? i'm guessing defence mainly which is neither here nor there imo. also the google touted industries of motorola, ibm etc. have got to be largely due to politics.

There was a piece on this on C4 news. Made it sound as if all you need is a single sympathetic judge and you have your warrant.

Off the top of my head IBM Israel has done some
groundbreaking development work.

Also, some of the development work for Intel's *quite*
popular x86 chip series has been done in Israel.

Telephone conference back to head office in California
was somewhat tricky, apparently.

Ermm well there is the small matter of a £3 billion trade relationship. They are in the top 25 when it comes to the UK's export market. Don't think we can afford to be too fussy in todays economic climate.

Anyway, I wonder if this means we'll be arresting Chinese leaders for crimes against the Tibetans, or Sri Lankan Generals for crimes against Tamil civilians?

The list would be never ending.

Uhh not quite. This was done on PH a while back, I will check. Until I find the list, here is a 9 year old write-up to give you an idea:

Britiain's third largest buyer of exports. Sounds rather relevant to me:

Why not? If Israel can organise the extradition of Nazis to Germany, or go round the world assassinating people (oh yes they do...), I don't understand why they can't be held to account somewhere.

IMO this was nothing so noble, simply some court jurisdiction catering to the sensitivities of the local Muslim population. Again, all IMHO.

Am inclined to agree with you; this smacks of nothing more than pathetic PC brownie point scoring.

It's embarrassing that we can be so easily swayed by either side. Hopefully there will be a review of the procedure in future.

Jimbeuax, there is a bit of history, stern gang bombings and three soldiers hung dating back a while, Mossad smuggling out a Nigerian in a crate at Stanstead. Britain has never had particularly good relations with Israel.
I don't think this is to keep pakistanis happy in Bradford.

Think we shouldn't forget that many of the founding fathers of Israel killed a lot of brits during the Zionist terrorist days...
