Help, I have recently purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD. Mercedes Engine (270)
There is a resonance from the engine above 1800 rpm, sounds like exhaust system touching bodywork, but is not, after £600 expense with Jeep main dealer, who supplied vehicle new and carried out last service, the problem is not solved. The noise appears to be coming from the inlet manifold area and can be heard in engine bay, but is more prevalent when driving and under load, no throttle, no noise. It is dependant on engine rpm not road speed so seems likely to be engine related. If any Mercedes owners, experts, can offer any suggestions I would be very grateful.

Hi Phil,

I have exactly the same problem with resonance noise from the engine synced with engine RPMs exactly in the same range of RPMs. Did you find where this noise come from and did you resolved the problem and how?

Thank you!

Hi there,

The madness sound from resonance is coming from one of the the fuel hoses which is going from the reservoir to the fuel filter. He touches the vacuum transformer which is located immediately after him.

Here is the exact photo of this hose:
