A lesson in how to put people in their place, I think.

Loving the tags

"Gore Youth" "Hitler Youth" hehe

Thanks for posting that, after days of hearing how the Earth is doomed it's fresh to see someone standing up for common sense and putting the crusties in their place smile

thumbup Lord Monckton, the voice of reality drowns the shrilling voices of many brain washed clones.

He made some excellent points, but sadly the ridiculous "Hitler Youth" comparison will be seized upon by the believers and his whole argument rubbished as a result. Shame, as the rest of the argument is sound. Maybe he should have drawn a comparison with the Iraqi Information Minister instead?

Al Bore lining his pockets with book sales this time, eh? I suppose someone has to pay for heating and lighting his mansion and feeding his four children.

Compared and contrasted.

Lord Monckton represents truth, honesty and integrity, and bases his views on honest science.

Al Gore represents greed and hypocrisy, and bases his views on junk science to further his own ends.

The demonstrators (Hitler Youth Movement) can perhaps be forgiven for their ignorance (no doubt they mean well) but as one of them actually said "my whole life I've known global warming, I'm 20 years old, the science is settled" the poor sod has been brain washed since birth and knows nothing different! But that's no excuse for not seeking the truth.

The Gore demonstrators on the other hand have shown the initiative to question "the science is settled" and must be thoroughly commended for making their voices heard against a political/junk science/media onslaught of propaganda.

Notice how Lord Monckton engaged with the Hitler Youth, yet Gore slipped away saying nothing, just leaving a trail of snail slime.

yeah right - 15 years of no warming eh "and you know it" lol. By all means try and back that one up!

Here's the data at your fingertips - http://www.woodfortrees.org

try the others if you like but you're (lordship is) wasting your time.

No problem at all with that graph although personally I'm one of Golden Brown's Flat Earth campers.

Yes, the graph does show a rise, but it doesn't look much like the famous hockey stick curves or "+5C by 2100" that I seem to be hearing from the media.

Over a roughly 15year period, it shows a rise of slightly less than 0.2 deg C. Significant of course, but from what I've read various research institutes have interpreted this single source of data to give anything from 0.12C to 0.19C per decade, which in my books is a roughly 50% increase in prediction. Sorry, but I'm afraid that doesn't impress me with their mathematics.

I do have more faith in satellite measurements than ground stations but the problem here is that the data is relatively new and short timescale, so it can be (and clearly is) interpreted in different ways. With under a 20yr period, which includes an admittedly significant "one-off" warming effect, by adding even a single year it can swing the results.

Interestingly enough, if you search through a fewer older references for satellite measurements, you can get a much different tale. In 1999 NASA was apparently saying the everything was hunky dory....

Quote from the reference above about this image.

"This chart shows the monthly temperature changes for the lower troposphere - Earth's atmosphere from the surface to 8 km, or 5 miles up. The temperature in this region is more strongly influenced by oceanic activity, particularly the "El Niño" and "La Niña" phenomena, which originate as changes in oceanic and atmospheric circulations in the tropical Pacific Ocean. The overall trend in the lower tropospheric data is approximately steady, at about +0.047oC per decade. Click on the charts to get the numerical data.

Surface thermometer measurements indicate that the temperature of the Earth is warming, while the satellite data show no significant long-term trends. These differences are the basis for discussions over the existence and magnitude of any global warming the Earth may be experiencing as a result of human activity. This page, updated monthly, will continue to provide the latest temperature measurements of various layers of the Earth's atmosphere from space."

And if you check the scales, the swings shown on that particular graph are far in excess of those in your original post ? Just comparing the two curves and the timescales, it looks pretty much steady to me.

It's also groundstation data measuring aircon vents, chimneys, car parks, trash burners and airport tarmac. Groundstation data that overlaps UEA CRU 90% - 95% according to those who know, which includes those who manage the data (their notes on interdependence of the datasets were reproduced on climate scientist Prof Pielke's website recently and I posted them on here).

The lower troposphere shows what's happening where it should be happening but isn't. All that's visible for 30 years is El Nino and volcanism. Exactly as now, the current rise is due to El Nino not PH's car park.

TB - yes, that's a better chart than the one I posted.

Interestingly enough, just doing a quick visual assessment of graph areas I could convince myself that pre-El Nino we were heading for a global cooling and by the early 90s ought to have been investing in some power stations ? I wonder how Winky et al missed that one ?

Good! Perhaps we need some mouthy students finding out the truth. They won't be silenced; you've had it all your way far too long and the tide is turning.

Personally I think you lot should be punished.
