Had a mess around with my new 450D finally. Not great but its a start.

As you can see, today was mainly erm...birds,so I won't bore you with any more.Any comments or tips welcome.I seemed to struggle with some blurring with the 70-300mm Tamron when handheld.Any ideas?
Thanks for enduring yet another fools first photos smile

Looking good

You need to watch the shutter speed on a longer lens

Rule of thumb - don't go any longer than 1 over the focal length

ie for 200 mm -- shutter speed needs to be 1/300 sec or less to account for the crop factor.

Thanks,I'll remember that for tomorrow.I'm going to try random buildings/structures.
For some reason this one seems sharper than the others:

Edited to add:Does anyone know what it is? A Tern perhaps?

Photo's are fine and experience is everything so you'll just get better as time goes by. As for the last shot.........there are two of 'em do maybe it's a case of "One good Tern deserves another".

That's a Black-Headed Gull. Just to be difficult, they don't have black heads in the Winter; just a black spot next to the eyes ...
