Alarm/ Immobiliser coming on when driving

Hi all (cross post from Exiges.com): My alarm/ immobiliser light has started to come on when driving. I presume it is due to water getting into the electrics as the car lives outside?
Has anyone else had this problem, where should i go with the trusted WD40?
Any advice much appreciated
