My Dad uses an Olympus E-500 (the 4/3rds type SLR) for his landscaping business - for surveying, planning, and before/after shots.

I'm interested to find a remote shutter release, and/or a hot-shoe mounted spirit level, which would both help towards taking very accurate, steady shots.

Olympus do a branded shutter release - can you get an aftermarket type?

It must be a remote on a cable, NOT an infrared jobbie.

Any suggestions for either product?

Christmas present request...TIA!

Hotshoe spirit level. Works a treat if you don't have one on the tripod.

A couple of pocket wizards and release cable. Make sure you can get one for your camera, they might only do the main brands like Canon or Nikon. In fact if it is not a pro type camera you might have a problem.

I should ask if you have any facility on the camera for release cables
