what air compressor the garage

ok chaps I need to get a compressor to run 3/8 ratchet and wrench, will be used rarely and space is limited, any ideas on what spec to go for

well had a look at a 3hp model 14cfm with a 50 litre tank as space is limited, hopefully it will drive a wrench as well as a rachet, how you got yours for that

Will a 12v Cordless torque ratchet gun be any good??

Takes my wheel nuts off OK without any problem.

But why bother if hardly ever gonna use ????
stick to a decent ratchet,perhaps a palm ratchet and maybe a speed brace and pump the tyres up down the garage.

( anything tightened with an air tool should be checked afterwards anyway, you can never be sure how tight they have done things up)

I bought all my tools from Aldi. They are exactly the same as the ones in machine mart except they have a three year guarantee instead of one and were a third of the price.

It is a brilliant piece of kit and is more than adequate for powering my impact gun and other tools. I have not tried spraying with it though.

Just to add to this, I'm thinking of getting a compressor at the moment. Well my choice is to either buy an electric wheel gun and an air bottle for wheel nuts and air jacks on the car, or a compressor which could do both. Would a compressor be worth looking at as it is a fair bit cheaper than both as a combo? If so, what kind of size should I be looking at? 150L? Less/more?? It might be a bit of a hasstle moving around though I suspect.

I like the v-twin compressor, its powerful and compact. Mine replaced a much larger belt driven unit and if anything it delivers more air anyway...

Do not underestimate how much you will spend on tools, lines & fittings.

I bought an Abac D50 which is a 50 litre single phase unit. It's way too small for regular use but not a bad unit by any stretch. I have just replaced it with a 3 phase twin with a 200 litre tank. Problem with the little units is that they run out of pressure after 10-20 seconds of use. Also pretty much useless with a shot blast cabinet.

This is the one I have been looking at, not too worried about capacity as it will only be used for undoing some bolts and wheels, wish I had more room for a 100litre one

The one I have is tiny. I'd never use it to tighten engine bolts but it does undo crank damper bolts. It's main use is clearing oilways and drying parts that I've just cleaned. I also use it for grinding off after I've done aluminium welding and with the right bits it rips through the metal. Oh, it inflates tyres as well,
