GT5 Prologue online questions

Is it possible to race your mates, other than by clicking the same race button at the same time, and if you do the latter does that even work? Many of the races I have done have not been fully subscribed, but then surely there aren't only say 8 people in the whole world wanting to enter a particular race at any one time. Does anyone know what is actually going on when it is "player matching?"

Also, it won't let you quit a race whilst racing, but the other night there were 3 guys on, all with the same user prefix (which made me think there must be a way to race people you know), all in AMG Mercs and the moment I started to pull away from them, they all disappeared. Was that because they disconnected or maybe my server dropped or something? Can't believe people would go to the trouble of disconnecting and connecting up again just because they are being beaten!

The way that GTP do it is that you all set your PS3's clock via the internet beforehand, then at a set time, everyone clicks to race. Quite often it works, you might not get everyone in but its not bad.

I think that to leave the game, you have to quit the game and restart it. Thats only any good at the start of the race, or else you may as well wait for it to finish.
