Ultima central locking...

im still opening/ unlocking the car via the fiat panda locks and keys..

Im not going to loose the locks(just in case) but would like to add remote central locking to the car..

May I ask who has fitted it and which kit did you use, as there are so many on the market???

check my build site there is some pics how i did it and it works quite ok, the cables the THOR guys are using are extremly stty so the quality is not too terrific

My build site shows the central locking I fitted 5 years ago.

No kit, just a couple of actuators driven off the alarm system.
Press to arm locks the doors, disarm unlocks them.

Ditto also has poppers on his doors so first press unlocks second press pops the door open.

I think I will still have locks you can use a key in as well as central locking. The Cerbera only has key fob locking and it is a pain when the battery runs down and you have to gain entry via the "secret method".

Stig put in central locking in his CanAm- plenty of details on his excellent build site- but if I recall what I read, it sounded like a fiddly task getting all the electrics to work...

Mine works through my alarm system which is not part of the kit, it was something I added it after
I have a way of getting in to it if the power fails

These kits remotly release the door then pop it open individually, imported from Summit this year for a project that is now sold.

Third press would open the doors fully to impress the crowds Fourth press closes and locks the doors Now how to you get all that to work

The electrics of the c/locking itself was pretty simple. It was made a bit more complicated by the alarm system I fitted that actuated them.

Plenty of remote c/locking kits (eBay) and cheap too

Once you make the mounting brackets and do a bit of keyhole surgery in the door, it's pretty simple. A sight better than just using the Fiat locks

I followed Dave Fiddes's install method (see the link in his entry in the Builders Digest) using actuators off ebay. The hardest part is making the small bell cranks, but it works a treat.
