We manufacture composite sea kayaks that are approximately 18 feet long and 2 feet wide, of which we require some professional studio photography.

The shots we require are side profile, front 3/4 view and top down of approximately 5 separate models in different colours (including white). They are also a very glossy finish.

Obviously this requires a large studio with good lighting rigs to get the right results.

Does anybody here do this, or can anybody recommend someone in the trade with the capability to do this?

As an aside, we have a large premises which, with the right lighting/screens would be big enough for the shoot, but obviously the photographer would need to bring a large amount of gear with them.

We are based up in Penrith, Cumbria.

What's your budget - and what is the target output (web / posters / training manual)?

I know a few to recommend, but budget drives everything wink

I suppose that showing the kayaks in their native habitat (ie in the water being paddled by happy smiling people, or grim faced Ray Mears lookalikes, or bikini babes - your choice!) is not an option?

The output is for everything from brochures to websites and potentially banners. Good enough for print is the main concern.

In terms of budget, into thousands rather than hundreds, though the more value, the better.

We already have action shots of the kayaks, but these are not really what we need for catalogues and websites.

Here's one in action...

Surely taking good shots, indoors, and not having to dodge the weather or risking good kit would be "Having your kayak and eating it...."?

Pretty much that kind of thing, but with 18ft and shiney gloss instead of plastic.

I'd be happy to quote you on this. I'm based in manchester.

Just measured up and they're far too large for my studio. I have access to a another large rental studio that would be perfect though.

I'd suggest dropping me an email but they don't seem to be getting though from PH at the mo. Do you have a website or email address i can contact you through?

Thanks for that mention.. I think geographically a more northerly based tog would be more practical. As it happens I'm actually not taking any more work now until the middle of march.

I'm sure a decent tog with good studio experience will cope just fine.. and not end up in sh*t creek without a paddle.. sorry couldn't resist..
