Had a good run with a Skyline last night on the A11. Always in unknown territory with Skylines as you don't know if they are still stock or not. Amazed how quick our two cars ate up the A11. The driver pulled up along side as I was turning left and gave me the thumbs up, both driver and passenger smiling like Cheshire cats

I just love the Skyline GTR R34, a fantastic car and must be totaly different to driving a vette or TVR (their rear wheel drive Muscle Counterparts),ime told you only have to be in the Skyline to recieve the Speeding ticket as they have that much Technology.

There are the Odd 1,000hp skylines around but i think most big modifiers stick around 6-700hp for a bit more engine reliability and there seem to be a lot of reputed 3-450hp skylines out there aswell,,to see a Skyline Hook up and go off the line from a standing start is amazing,,you must come to Elvington to see for yourself Brett.

Was it a Blue or black one?.

Wicked, just been for a Sunday morning drive, overtook 4 cars in one go down a country lane on a damp road approaching a bend, other than that it was a right yawn. Every b*stard including cyclists think they have as much right to the road as us Vette owners. Can't be right?

Nope, can't be right. What model Skyline was it? R32? R33? R34?

I'm sure it was blue as for the model, I don't know Skyline model numbers that well but I've had a quick look on the net and would say R34. It was newer than the 2 skylines that are local to me.

We were pretty evenly matched. I ended up behind him on the single lane part of the A11 where he did a couple of overtakes and I followed. Then when we exited a roundabout where the A11 opens back out to 2 lanes he went for it and I stayed with him but I had no more than he did on that short stretch. After the next roundabout he slowed and pulled over, guess he wanted me to go round, perhaps to see what car I was in. Then I went for it and again we were well matched. Looked like he could get the power down a fraction before me leaving the roundabouts (no surprise there)as he would close the gap up only for me to open it back out a bit once the Z really started to pull in third and then fourth. Great fun ! It might have been a different story if I still had those stock brakes ! those Brembos were working overtime hauling me back down at all those roundabouts.

Sounds like an R34 with a bit of tweaking,FG lovely bits of kit,,when my was standard i had a blatt up the M* against an Earlier Skyline and hit 160,,pulled on it quite comfortably in 3rd 4th and 5th (didnt bother with 6th),mind you his was also standard.
Might have been a different outcome if his had been tweaked.
There were a few Skylines at Elvington that were from Essex way that had been played with.
What tyres are you running Brett?

Yeah sounds like an R34 GT-R - probably Bayside Blue. Theres quite a lot of Skylines in Essex and Kent.

Pilot sports. It's a completly different car with them to what it was with the Goodyears.

Strange thing is Geoff's has pilots as well but they are a different tyre. Different tread pattern and they feel harder. Perhaps they are a US spec tyre or something.

3rd and 4th gear on the ZR1 are spot on they just pull like a train in those gears. Makes me wonder why the Americans all want different ratios. Unless European cars had a different gear ratio than US models. That'll be a question for Geoff.

The guy next to where I work sold his skyline to buy a GTR that's been breathed on. Says it makes all his previous cars (Skyline, Supra turbo, BM's, etc) seem like toys! He says it has 460bhp at the wheels & does 0 - 60 in a fraction under 3secs. He's also mumbling about getting an even better chip in it. I guess it must be something special as when I'm working on the weekends there's a constant stream of Skylines pulling up outside to give it an ogle.
The bloke's in fairy land - he hasn't come up against my L81 yet

Yeah actually it was a gentle curve but it felt like a bend at 190 mph.

Ahhh... so you got a light dusting of the white stuff and the whole damn country grinds to a halt.
Good job the rest of the planet is in Britain and can see how tough life is in the free world.

All I heard on the local news/radio for the last few days was how many griters the council now have and how there wont be a repeat of last year.

WELL, WHERE WERE THEY ?????????

I was about all day yesterday and saw one. None of our main roads have been done since Tuesday. I can't go to work at the mo 'cause the main road is tailed back, people can't get over the speed ramps as they are so iced up. I've watched people get out to push and end up on their arse !!!

I am currently in Austria (fly home tomorrow) we had around 8" of snow on Tuesday night. As soon as it started falling the gritters/snow ploughs were out, they have mini gritters/ploughs for the pavements so life just carries on as normal. What a contrast to our disorganised bloody country where everytime it snows its a supprise, even though they were forcasting this last week!!!!

I think that most of them were on the M25 on the way down to Esher on Tuesday. The salt was drifting at one point!!

It was too slippery for them to go out
I find the best way to get about on the slippery surface is to drop the 'Drive' wheels tyre pressures and it seems to work.
One unfortunate owner lost his BMW on a bend and its now sitting on its roof on the B3400 ...not a pretty site.

BTW gixer got your text next morning, didnt go tuesday as i was a bit busy.

That and the other maybe obvious one... short-shifting will help too.
