Going to be doing some work on a place, they've got a door entry system integrated into their telephone wiring.
Fault is, when someone hits the buzzer, they lose internet connection.
I'm guessing its because the door entry system isnt filtered but I'd have thought that would manifest itself as an issue permanently rather than just when the contact is made to put voltage on the ringer.
Ever come across anything like this before? We've not come into contact with a lot of door entry stuff, other than specific products linked with a product line we carry, I'm sure the fault can be traced but a few pointers on where to start would be appreciated if you have any!
I think your right there, sounds like it needs filtering to me if it's connected to the main telephone system. We do have a Telguard system that is unfiltered ( although we now filter them ) but as of yet nobody has complained of the problems you describe, or at least we haven't been told of such a problem. Has it only just started happening or is it a newish install ?
If you need a hard wired filter and haven't got one the 6th one down in this link will do the job.

As a side note, a few years ago before broadband became mainstream and widely used, we would connect most of our alarm systems up to the telephone line for them to be monitored without them being filtered. They say everything on a phone line that carries broadband needs to be ASDL filtered. Strange thing is, we found some people couldn't get on line without a filter or had loads of problems where it would just stop working etc, after a filter was fitted problems stopped. Others have never experienced a problem and are still running the alarm system unfiltered.
Would be interesting to post back here once you have solved the problem.

So long as each phone ( and any other appliance using the phone system )is filtered with a supplied ADSL filter and the incoming line is filtered into your 'door entry system', then there shouldn't be a problem.
I'd put the filter I linked to, next to the telephone line incoming point of the 'entry system' if possible, so running the telephone line through the filter before entry into your 'entry system'. As an example, we put this filter inside our alarm panels so the only device we are filtering is our alarm panel.
We don't filter the whole telephone line at the master socket, purely as this will make us responsible for any filtering problems throughout the rest of the telephone line.
