Worst outrigger ever? + bodylift pics

Finally lifted the body with 2 winches....





The offside outrigger fell off before the lift!....





The nearside isnt much better....





Ready for some much needed attention.....

Out of interest, when did it last pass an MOT? Surely not in the last 12 months!!!!

Actually passed its last MoT about 18 months ago but has endured many 130 mile trips to and from York in all weathers.
Also dont forget i live in Cumbria which is underwater most of the year.

what i would like to see is how to support the body, I have a ramp that I could raise the car on but how high do you have to take to get to get the body clear, I am leaving the engine in place ? any pics of how you have supported it would be great, failing that I would have to try and Muster an army of body lifters

Who needs these out-rotters anyway?

Surely this is just an organic weight loss system designed in by TVR.

Seriously though, those snaps will probably scare off anyone thinking about a TVR.

Personally I think the early silver painted chassis is better than the white powder coated ones, but lets face it they are all getting on a bit.

This is an early powder coated one too, it seems they got better as time went on.

Interestingly the main rails still seem fine from what I can see.

So I say, if wasn't for those out-rotters we would all be fine for years to come.

Shame TVR never gave them a bit more protection.

However if you fix your out-rotters the Griffimaeras make a compelling case for themselves.

These cars are still the bargain of the century in my opinion.

Its looking at those shots that remindes me why I am going to all the aggro of sorting the surface rust out on my chassis. You would have thought they had got coating a chassis down to a tea after 50 odd years!
