Gearbox question.

As has been previously posted I have my propshaft off at the moment, when checking the old prop there is a groove on the front of the prop which is where the oil seal went, I have a bit of lateral play on the output shaft of the gearbox, what i would like to know is how much if any lateral play should there be at the end of the output shaft ?

I can't remember how much play mine had after a rebuild but there certainly was some although I don't think it was a great deal, I remember as I was quite surprised by it and checked with the bloke who rebuilt it for me. I also have trust in him as he was used via my trade contacts, is an old style mechanic whoi still works more to fund his hobby than anything else, which is building hill climb cars for fun, so he knows the Type 9 box well.
