Hi
I'm going to be the proud owner of an E36 M3 evo in a couple of weeks and would appreciate any recommendations for a reasonably priced independant BMW garage in West Sussex. I'm not anticipating any problems with the car but it would be nice to have the info in the event of an emergency. Thanks guys smile

I dont know about Sussex but I would recommend this guy all day long.

If you can stomach the extra travelling he has a good waiting room for you to pass the time. He is only in Southampton (just off jct 3 M27).

Thanks Neil, I was looking for somewhere more Crawley or Horsham area. There is an indie German garage called GCS outside Horsham, has anyone heard of them ?

What about http://www.munichlegends.co.uk/

They are meant to be fabulous for M servicing. Although they may find a fair amount of work as they apparently have high standards according to their car write ups.

I've used munich legends for the last 5 or 6 years and always found them very helpful and know their way around the M cars.

They're around 20-30 minutes from crawley

^ As above...I drive past them every day to get to work. Always have a few E30's in the showroom. They're just by Wych Cross, off the A22.

Thanks guys, does high standards = high prices ? I'm not trying to maintain the car on the cheap (would nice though) but if they are up there with main dealer prices, well, sort of defeats the object of the exercise..............?

Parts will be the same price as anywhere else, But Stewart is very good parts guy for the older cars I waited 3 weeks for E30 M3 parts from a main dealer as they delivered to a friends bodyshop. When they never turned up I rang Stewart and they were there the next day.

I think their hourly rate is around £50-55 which compares to £110+ at the local main dealers.

Before I sold my last M3, I had a service done at A J Robertson in Brighton. This was based on superb feedback on various forums. I was not disappointed. I would highly recommend them.

Don't forget though that some BMW main dealers do reduced servicing for cars older than 6 years and also cars older than 10 years. Think it's called the 6 plus scheme? - Confirmation would be great on this

Munich Legends aren't far from me at all and there are some fantastic roads near them. They're actually on a mile long stright themselves - just watch out for the dears!

Munich Legends have also recently been taken over although i'm lead to belive that the work shop staff are all still there. I've heard mixed opinions about them but the one time i've used them they were faultless and i would certinaly use them again.

No doubt other dealers offer the same sort of thing.
