help needed

my dads just got a fujifilm s1500 for his forthcoming trip to vietnam.anyway he wants me to show him how it all works god knows why as the only camara i use is on my phone and thats st! we've worked out the basics and have got some good pics in auto mode. but iam stuck as you can adjust the shutter speed and aperture settings.what do these do and does any one know any websites for looking up stuff like this

Leave ISO alone for now, 100/200 is good for most things
