The stripe is actually painted right down the bodywork... its not a painted on stripe, so in that way its slightly better value considering the work and cost of just a front end respray.

They'll be worth more in the future.

Nice one Kev

The stripe is hand painted. Cost doesn't come into the equation, it's a bloke thing, of course you've got to spec the stripe.

I think you've got away with it so far.

The stripe is a weird one.. personally I think it doesn't look very good, but owners feel bound to order it as it's the "done thing", like adding a radio kit which has been deleted as standard

Nah, it's painted on by Da Vinci's great great great great grandson!

Christ. A thread on a car that hasn't arrived yet! I was busted over the stripe ages ago (thanks Steve, you're a mate!). You're right though, it is a *special* stripe built up from the primer, though for this price, Daz had better be right about Da Vinci's descendants painting it. Even my wife is ripping the piss out of me about the 'Noddy stripe'; every time an old style Mini with a paint job is spotted, the record plays again..

There was always this nagging in the back of my mind with regards to that strip, but could never quite put my finger on it. Thats feckin' hilarious. ha ha ha,

Kevin's got a noddy stripe on his car, la la lala la

Oh boy, I'm worried I'll be laughing my head off when I'm chasing you down some of those country lanes...

You ARE joking right?

Don't know the exact conversion ratio between Simon Cowell (exact same car, exact same spec from the exact same dealer ) AND No.6 in the Premiership Footballers Choice, versus one itsy bitsy stripey thing. BUT IT ISN'T ONE pal

What d'you reckon to this Simon? www.northcoast.com/~shojo/Awful/you.aiff

It's obvious to me that your daily rate of about 7 trillion pounds per hour means you work about 1 day out of 1000.... it's quite clear you have wayyy too much time on your hands....

I think the Stripe looks fan dabby dozy!

I am in fact going to start up a stripe painting company to capitalize on all the other cars on the road that could do with a bit of sprucing up. Of course we won't be going right down to the primer. We dont need to as 1 coat Gloss seems to be great on top.

Would be funny if the CS started a trend with the stripes.

Excellent (WTF am I still at work BTW?? ) Ali, I'll claim to have pioneered the 'ripping the p!ss out of Kev's stripe thing a few months back (www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=63&h=&t=68122) as I was idly geeking around the PH members cars, but this is excellent. Keep it up!

Disclaimer:

In order to get a ride in the spawn of Enzo's go kart I'd have to say that I'm actually really rather warming to this whole stripe malarky (as messrs Oliver might say). The fact that it is not - as first thought - an overpainted piece of cash extraction adds a degree of respect. I mean, honestly how much effort to go to to have a stripe down the middle, the detailing of which can only really be appreciated up close. But there again, isn't that pretty much well essence of Stradale? Anyway, I'm almost as excited as you are Kevin. Please feature me on at least the top 20 people to see / feel / touch / hear your baby. I think it's really jolly spanking to be honest
