MW2 MP hints & tips

As per title.
What are the collective tips to being good at the MP? At best I'm chuffed with a 1:1 kill:death ratio and always find myself near the bottom of the table at the end of every match...
I go charging in and I die, I hold back and I get licked off...
Not just for my benefit, but this might be handy for (other) newbies to the game too.

From your spawn point, quickly select three 'safe' areas. I pick anything from a dark corner to a barrel I can crouch next to. Obviously you need a good field of view. Scoot between all three, one or two kills at each. If you have to move to another location on the map then unless you are sprinting then crouch, makes you a smaller target. Keep an eye on your radar, not only for enemy shots but also for nearby teammates vanishing (picked off).
If you get hit, find a safe area out of line of fire and lie down, chances are the shooter will have been spotted by a teammate, leaving you time to recover. Do the same for stun/flash grenades.

Pick a spot were you can see the entry points and the opponents are 'funneled' towards you. They are easy to pick off then.
Once you have killed a couple move to another spot as they will get wise and move around behind you.
Also don't shoot from anywere obvious, if you would expect someone to shoot from that spot likely someone else will be thinking the same and is already waiting to shoot you.

I think the best thing is to not be fancy until you get better at the game. You want an auto weapon, and preferably an auto second weapon. Its much faster to switch to your sidearm then reload. That and run around in a group and blob everyone

king spawning infront of people and getting my face shot off, and bd noob tubes, they are the most annoying weapon in the game.

Flank them and wipe out a bunch of them/all of them with silenced weapons (cold blooded and ninja perks helps greatly)
Be aware other people will be doing this, so don't run blindly everywhere.
Check corners and avoid points where you know snipers like to view.
If you must go past known sniper locations, pop smoke, find cover aiming in thier direction, as the smoke clears try to spot them and nail them before they do to you.

I felt bad using the noob tubes, but it was necessary to get the shotgun attachment on the SCAR. king spawning infront of people and getting my face shot off, and bd noob tubes, they are the most annoying weapon in the game.
Each one of the 20 kills required with it to unlock I felt guilty, like you I hate it when people use them exclusively.

Having come from playing cod for years on the PC Im finding it hard getting used to the aim assist, I keep over compensating for movement and firing to far ahead.
I use the map a lot. If you can see where your team are, which direction they are facing and who is engaged in a battle you can work out where the other team probably are, either flank or go at them. Also stick with team members, even if you are not using the microphone. Personally I don't camp and find moving about better while watching the obvious sniper and camp points.

Bad move, any opponent worth their weight will see the grenade and be ready and waiting for you to enter the alley and shoot you in the face as soon as you turn the corner.And I camp.

I might aswell be, I'm a mouse and keyboard kind of guy and find using the controller clunky and slow. I am starting to get the hang of it now though, sort of top half of the team in team deathmatch. Famas + Grenade launcher I need to play some people as bad as me lol
