Yeah I know, another Modern Warfare topic!......anyway
Now the dust has settled and the hype is finally over we've all had chance to play on MW2 for a few days (literally!).
How do you feel it compares with the original Modern Warfare? (I'm talking about the online multiplayer here)
Now don't get me wrong it's still a crackin' game and the visual aspects are top notch but for me it has lost "something", a lot of the maps feel really cluttered and there's far too much going on (countless UAVs, bling, heart beat detectors, missiles, airstrikes, choppers etc.) to contend with.
I've been playing MW2 on the Xbox for the past week but today I popped COD4 back into my PS3, for me that game was near enough perfection, the gamplay is absolutely spot on.
Is it just me that feels this way?

I seem to be having great difficulty getting into an online game today
It just sits there searching forever no matter what game option I pick. I can't believe there are not enough games going on out there! Had no problem last night when I bought the game.
Finding the campaign mode a bit OTT personally. So much going on at one time on some of the levels its just a bit tedious and not very satisfying to play.

I feel a bit the same, although some of the things you mention are really cool, such as being able to control the helicopter etc.
I love the new maps, they are visually stunning and the maps from the old game really were getting a little tired. I'm sure I will go back to MW1 for a play soon and see what I think, but I'm enjoying MW2 too much at the moment.
I do feel that have tried to make it seem a bit more "arcade" like with the bonus and achievments flashing up on screen all the time etc. Can be a bit distracting.

At first I thought MW2 was like COD5. IE it had lost it's "feel" for want of a better word.
But a couple of hours of MP play later and I'm loving it.
Don't forget... MW1 maps are ingrained in your head now... MW2 maps aren't. Give them time and they'll be similar I think.
SP and Special Ops are
superb tho!

...........I agree that there is often too much going on especially in Hardcore mode, too many Helicopters AC130's etc etc etc etc. Hardcore sould be about deliberate paced and thoughtful play. Not a plane blowing up the entire level.
Also when did Harriers come equipped with a remote turret and hover over battlefeilds? This is complete and utter gash.

Don't worry OP you are not a lone voice
I'm loving MW2 but there is too much going on, too many distractions. Maps are well designed and perks and kill streaks are inspired - the AC-130 is total carnage! But spawning/spawn points are falling short of COD4 IMO - spawning right in enemies line of sight is far too common in MW2.
Also very disappointed at the lack of maps for FFA matches. Being a 'shoot everything that moves' sort of guy this is a serious shortcoming; FFA only gives you 7 of the 16 maps. Maps are generally larger than in COD4 so this is probably why but then why not increase match size to 10 or 12.
By day 3 of playing MW2 I got nostalgic and went back to COD4. Still plenty of players on there and had no problem finding a match. Just to reaffirm my views I got my best kill-streak of 25 on a FFA match. I think I'm going to be switching between the two as MW2 just isn't giving me everything I want.

i m liking mw 2 but just not loving it...it just isnt as good as 4 imo, its graphically better with some cool perks but just hasnt got the gritiness and tactical factor of 4, plus the weapons options are a bit fantasy land mainly the heartbeat sensor etc, the cage match is also a disappointment as its default format is 3rd person!? the more i play it the more i hanker after 4!

Ah, I had'nt realised there were less maps in FFA. Did wonder why it seemed to play the same ones a lot. Bit of a shame that as that is my favourite game mode too. Another thing I found yesterday was that it was very hard to actually get into a FFA match for some reason, TDM being the only game I could access most of the time. I don't know if this was a fault with the server of what?

RE spawning in line of fire: 'Rust' on FFA is absolutely terrible for this!! I did'nt seem to fall victim to it too much but I certainly mowed down several people that literally spawned directly in front of me as I moved around the level in open space.
One other thing chaps - is it me or is it much easier to aim with the sniper rifles on MW2 than MW1? I was never that great with them on the previous game but on this it seems relatively easy to get kills without even holding breath as the gun does'nt bob around so much anymore.
I'm split here, I loved COD4 and the maps, but was pretty c**p at it.
COD6 is awesome, love the maps, love the fact my kill rate is up, but I hated helicopters in COD4 and now I have more to contend with.
Also I've noticed an increased number of 'camping' spots on COD6, so much so that certain members on here should just change there clan tags to PHCC (PistonHeads Camping Club!).......you know who you were last night

Think the new game is definitely an improvement over 4, but see the game more of a 4.5, rather than a brand new game.

You have a go at me for moaning when I started my comment with this:
I said:

And then you end with this:You said:
