Is FM3 good enough....

....to warrant the purchase of an Xbox??
Having spent the last god knows how long waiting for GT5 before I would buy a PS3 it looks like I'm never going to move up from the PS2.
All of this talk about FM3 has got me thinking.... shall I just get an xbox? Im not a huge gamer, the kids dont live on the games machines so its a everynow and again thing....
How good is the steering wheel? is there more than one option?
OH asked me what i wanted for xmas... I'm tempted to say "I want that one"

When FM3 first came out I thought it was just FM 2.5, I still do to a point, mainly regarding the content, but now i've lived with it for a while i've found it's the small things that make it.
The sounds are better, the graphics are better, the music choice is better, the vinyl editor and paintshop are brilliant, much much better than before and the handling characterisitics of the cars are fantastic. Not to mention the detail in some of the cockpit views (Reventon
). Despite thinking i'd moved away from racing games into more story driven content over the last 6 months, I can't put FM3 down, I haven't even been bothered to go and get MW2.

No-way near as good as Grid IMO, but what really pisses me off is the random flooring of the brakes at the start of every couple of races!
Not only that there's no motion blur and the brakes don't seem to glow. Although the graphics and menu's are brilliant, the game is let down possibly by a glitch that still hasn't been repaired and possibly overcomplicating the wheel, literally.

Personally - no.
IMO, it hasn't came close to living up to the hype. Lots of dashboards not working (particularly race cars), still only 8 cars on track, matchmaking is a farce, no weather or night racing, still only 8 cars on track, no repairable aero (but you can do an engine swap in 4 seconds), LB cars are as bad, if not worse than FM2 (Dyson mazda in r3 springs to mind), race classes are ruined now that race cars are next to useless compared to upgraded road cars, still only 8 cars on track - could go on - all little niggles, but to me, the game is FM2 with fancier graphics, new cars and not much else.
If you already have an xbox, it's a no brainer. If you are buying an xbox just for FM3, I would say no - of course, there are loads of other good games, depends if you have a PS3 already I guess.
Edited - see you already have a PS3 - if i was in your shoes, i would be waiting for GT5 and occupying myself with something like MW2 till it comes out - up to you i guess though.

What you are forgetting is that without an XBOX he won't have played FM2. FM3 might not be a huge leap forward, but it is still a damn good game.IMO, it hasn't came close to living up to the hype. Pi33ed you off so much you had to say it twice?Multi-class racing with 4 in each class - kind of misses the point, was hoping for some proper LMS type action a la grid.
I'm not saying FM3 is a bad game (it is one of the best) but it definatley isn't perfect - a lot of the game feels rushed (e.g drag racing - do it properly, or leave it out) and tailored towards arcade gamers, rather than the hardcore fans who will be playing it till FM4 comes out. Saying that, love the storefront, and hammereing through the porsche curves in a properly planted P1 is great fun
Edit - pretty much bought my 360 for FM2 and GOW, but then again, I didn't have a PS3 - so it is down to your preference and bank balance I guess

Have to say I agree with some of the comments above, the lack of weather and lighting conditions in the game is a bit of a let down, I would gladly forego some of the track variations for wet weather or night racing.
Agree entirely about the 8 cars thing, would a jump to even 12 cars been that hard to achieve. Endurance races can sometimes just get very boring with only 7 other cars on track.
Its a fantastic game and if you don't have an xbox already, well worth it if you have never played forza before. But as said above its not perfect.
That said I am addicted to it, and the time I waste painting cars and in the auction house looking for bargains is unreal.
