I saw one of these on the motorway this week. Would it have been a conversion or a Jag product? I've never seen one before and, surprisingly, it looked rather cool.

Random Lynx Eventer Facts:

While the early cars used an adapted tailgate from the Citroen Ami, the later ones used a tailgate from the Renault 5.

&

Gucci had one with solid silver ignition keys.

Wrong, sorry CY88 !

The tailgate of the Eventer was built from scratch as the rest of the bodywork but the rear window (and only that) was indeed adapted from Citroën Ami 8 saloon (either on early or later Eventers). The side windows (with double curvature) were specially made for the Eventer.

Ladbroke Avon Ltd adapted the tailgate of the Renault 5 to build the tailgate of their XJ Estate (half XJ bootlid joined with half R5 hatch). Nothing to do with Lynx and with Eventers.

The Eventer by Paolo Gucci was more than a silver key!

Pretty sure that they also moved the rear seats back a bit to make them more useable.
Lovely motor - I always fancied one.

Bit of a character, so I heard - I don't suppose you're the neighbour who kept the peacocks?

The Gucci Eventer was a bit of a disaster. My understanding at the time was that Paolo didn't own the rights to use the Gucci brand.

Talking of old Jags, I was surprised how much rear legroom there was in that Lister Le Mans XJS at the Classic Car show

What a strange piece of glass. Long thin and weirdly shaped.
