Ex Lotus owned cars
Discussion
I am thinking about buying an Exige that has previously been owned by Lotus. It is a high spec car that looks in excellent condition. I have been assured that the car has not been one of their ex track cars. The condition inside and out would seem to confirm this to be true. Can anyone tell me of their experiences, good or bad, of owning an ex lotus car. Cheers. doggydave.

Do not buy unless you have checked with Lotus Sport that the Car has not been an Ex track car, it's worth considerably less if it has, I've done all the Lotus track experiences and we didn't treat those Car's wellThey are good for Track Day’s or Racing only
Give Lotus sport a call on : +44 (0) 1953 608547 Ask to speak to Lisa or James they should be able to tell you about the Car

Silverstone's track Exiges are for sale. Various colours but all have sport and touring packs on and limited slip differential. All have been regularly checked and worked on by Silverstone's highly trained technicians as well as Services carried out at Lotus Silverstone. Various pictures have been attached of the different colour schemes.
There are 12 cars to choose from with different mileage useage. All cars have had instructors in the passenger seat to ensure the cars are not abused whilst in use. For more information or to have a test drive call Oliver at Lotus Silverstone 0844 372 8302
Hmmm wonder how many people pay attention and full adherence to those instructions

Lots of managers at Lotus have Elise/Exige and now Evora's.If you've been told that the car hasn't been tracked it's likely to be an ex-managers car. We get emailed a list of cars for sale every month.

Just wondering how much could go wrong - f'cked gearbox, and maybe hard worked suspension? Assuming the engine's been looked after they should be fine shouldn't they.....??
You don't get any warranty with an Ex track Car so you should pay as such, factor in at least a Clutch, Tyres, Breaks, and the Car to be fully checked over at a Lotus dealerNo more than 20k for an Exige S, 25k for a 2 11, around 13k - 15k for an R or an S
Sorry I wouldn't buy one for the road but that's me

Thanks for the great response. I have driven the car this evening and it drives better than the car I am part ex-ing which I thought was impossible. The clutch bites almost immediately, the gears seem nice and tight, not sloppy. It feels excellent. I have been given the name of the director who has had the car for the fist 7 months of its life. I still have the balance of manufactures warranty, which is just over 12 months. The car seems to be ticking all of the right boxes. The drivers and passenger seats are in excellent condition as are the sill covers, which are fabric. The car is a 260 Cup with 7100 miles, in Isotope Green. Any comments would be appreciated. Dave.

I have had my ex-Lotus owned car for 7 years and 49000 miles. Totally reliable throughout apart from a new alternator 3 years ago.
The really significant thing about these cars is that they have been serviced by Lotus before selling on, which usually means that they have been sorted out and set up properly (something that doesn't always happen in the limited time they spend on the production line).
I have also got an email and photo from the guy that ran it for the first six months of its life.
Go for it!
Enjoy, Neil
