New GTR in Town
Discussion
Hi.
A picture is worth a thousands words:

Don't remember how many months I am lurking the Ultima forum by now,
but finally here's my contribution.
Can't believe it's two years passed since my first queries about the Ultima,
and my order from one year ago.
But haste makes waste, and the result is simply stunning.
Driving the car the first time - I felt like being in driving school again.
So much new impressions, unknown noise, unfamiliar seating position in an claustrophobic cabin.
The Engine behind your back, screaming like a rocket seconds before the blast-off.
It's so much above anything else.
Words can not express such an experience, but one: unreal.
The YouTube videos of the other Ultima owner was a big help to overcome the waiting time.
Watched the Lambodude, Pepperman, Roadlooktv... videos hundreds of times.
Followed the google picture search up to page 50
And I just want the share as much of the Ultima experience as possible.
I set up a website at www.ls7gtr.com
There you will find a lot more pictures of the car.
I will put up some more videos and picture as time goes by.
Some of the specs worth to mention:
- LS7 with diamond forged pistons
- cylinder head modifications
- 12:1 compression
- A custom grind Camshaft
- 680 HP on the engine dyno, 600+ at the wheels
- Rebuilt 996 Turbo (G96/50) cable shifted six speed transaxle, with taller 1st gear.
It's incredibly easy to shift the gears (even reverse).
- The Forgeline Premier MD3P matte black wheels with red outer rims look gorgeous
Some of the cons:
I would not recommend anybody to build the car on your own,
if you're an average car idiot like me.
Don't get me wrong. I love cars, I am eager to learn everything behind the hood.
But getting more than 600 HP by burning a stinky fluid, thousands of times a minute is still some kind of magic to me.
I am coming from 0, hence I would be lost when facing the unexpected problems during the build we had.
Like troubles with the engine (not an Amerspeed).
The engine as delivered didn`t fit the chassis (Some components had to be replaced).
Also the ECU programming was a total write-off and had to be
reprogrammed - wrong fuel mappings, error codes for accessories that
weren`t even on the engine, no closed loop operation, sensor failures,
etc... Don't want to bug you with details.
It's stuff that costs you a lot of time and some money.
So you better keep yourself a nest egg when going to order an Ultima
I am just happy I didn't had to deal with these problems myself,
as fellow Pistonheads member SchimmS from ultimacars.de built the car for me.
Many thanks. He did a faithful job.
He spent reams of hours even at the smallest details to deliver a perfect car.
Last but not least many thanks to Till Kühner from Langenfeld who did the ECU reprogramming.
Glad we found him.

Hallo Hans,
saw your car while it was built by Sven. Looks really stunning.
Glad to hear the engine problems are solved. Maybe you know I bought the same engine and have the same problems you had with the incorrect ECU mapping.
Think I will need Mr. Kühner´s help too.
Enjoy it to the full.

Thanks to everybody.
First of all: Sorry for the confusion, but my real name isn't Hans Muff.
Call me Sven
All I know is that we're happy to have passed
- A surprisingly low 350 g/Km CO2,
but my nose says it's pure death coming out of the back
As far as I know the catalytic converter needs some time to get its operating temperature.
- standing noise is 93 dB(A) at 4800 rpm.
- driving noise is 78 db(A).
and quite cheap as he has a lot of experience with these engines.
A thing I noticed right after he changed the ECU mapping was that I don't need any throttle to get the car going slowly.
Don't forget to take your digicam when you visit him.
You will most likely spot a bunch of nicely modified Corvettes in his rooms

Hi Sven and congratulations for the great looking car! Any problems getting the vehicle TÜV registered.
SchimmS can probably answer these questions in more details. All I know is that we're happy to have passed
