Anywhere nice to eat in Middlesbrough ?

As the tittle says really I'm in Middlesbrough for 3/4 nights next week ?
Anywhere nice to eat be it a pub or resturant ?

Not really. There's a couple of decent places to get a kebab, and that's your lot.

Recently I heard a decent indian opened called Akhbars. Never been, but it's on Linthorpe Road, if you have to take a cab. Otherwise it's BK or Pizza Hut!

It's the home of the 'parmo' so you have to have one of those. No idea where is best for them though unfortunately.

Akbars on Linthorpe road is awful, if you have any expereince with decent curries you will agree. They get the food from Bradford and warm it up...fact. If you want a decent curry try Khans just past central park.

Indeed. I suggested Newcastle was the best place to eat in Middlesborough. The Boro boys thought I was being disrespectful out of spite when I was being genuinely honest, and I still maintain my statement.

The best place for Parmos in the Teesside area is The Buck at Great Ayton. The guy who claims to have invented them is the chef there. Or the chef's son. Or has some tenous link with him, I forget...

In Middlesbrough itself, I can recommend Fellini's, an very good Italian restaurant on Linthorpe Rd.

It wasn't a suggestion for the OP, that's why I mentioned Fellini's.

he claims to have invented them, but he didnt. dnt think anyone did really, its just an evolution of an old italian dish. has worked for him though as he's ruddy busy!!! wouldnt touch a parmo with a barge pole like! cant stand them.

+1 for cafe lillie in Norton have heard god things, might be worth a taxi ride out.

yarm tends to be good for nice eateries, just dont go on a tuesday as its full of pissed up morons generally!

Get a cab to the Sutton Arms at Elton, on the A66 towards Darlington.

Very good food; excellent beer too.

Sorry all been busy - I am in the Best Western I have forgotten which one. It has a Italian restaurant in it I think.
Budget is OK not over the top but could splash out a bit.
Will keep you posted.
