There is already a car along those lines, although it uses a Range Rover engine, made out of GRP and has the engine in the right place! I believe they call it a TVR Griffith

You need to look at the current edition of EVO and look up the 5.7-litre V8 powered Land Rover Overfinch 570 HSi. based on the Defender

I used to race Land Rovers Off road in the comp safari class. Although we were only regional it was still fun.

The national hill rally boys in a top spec bowler or 3m will have a shortened range rover chassis, lightweight landrover body and a rover v8 of upto 550 BHP. Dependant on gearing with an auto box:
0-60 approx 5.0sec
Topend upto 140mph can be quicker but there is no need off road.

Even ours was 110 mph and 0-60 in under 7.5secs. That really upset the hot hatch brigade.

Clarkson did a segment on the Overfinch Range Rover on one of his videos. 6.3 litre Corvette engine etc. Showed it out accelerating a Focus, while towing a Focus on a trailer. I want one!
