Hi!!
Once again, asking for advice!
Well, now we almost have a rolling chassis, so it's time to order the BIG parts, engine and trasmission. Here it comes...
I've been reading all the available posts talking about those issues.... and the more I read, the more confused I am.
Seemed to be sure two weeks ago, when I was going for a 565 bhp from AS and a GT2 box from GBOX. But suddenly I just thought that maybe I was going to pay way too much for not such difference.
Main problems are:
- Does it worth using a GT2 box instead of a G50 with cables?
- Why AS? and not JS? or vice versa. I've been also in contact with Spatz who has recommended me SolutionF. It requires more work but you also safe money...
here we are...
Thank you all!!

just to clarify I am not involved with SolutionF at all but they supplied me
a fully working LS7 package with satisfying performance at a great price.
So not that you get the idea that I have any kind of deal with them. My ECU map is now available
from DTAFAST as a starting map. I am very glad that I went that route and would do again, seems like I will
as I might build another car soon.

Spatz has given you one option that he says worked well for him.a fully working LS7 package with satisfying performance at a great price.

I can give you an alternative, which is to buy an LS7 from American Speed - they will dyno the engine using a wiring loom which will then be sent to you, and if you have followed the factory instructions for the locations of your fuel and oil systems, the engine will drop straight in. You will use the fly-by-wire throttle that will be supplied by AS. (I believe spatz uses a cable throttle ?)
Cost - if you choose not to use American Speed ? Who knows... There is no engine supplier, other than AS, that has yet published for all to see the cost of an LS7 that is GUARANTEED to fit into an Ultima, with all of the correct pulleys, pumps. compressors etc. etc, and the engine has been dyno run before it is shipped.
I think there is a good opportunity for someone to compete with AS - but they will need to be selling a comparable product - and at the moment, no-one else is. Can it be done cheaper using a crate engine and all the parts that AS use ? Maybe - if you know exactly what you are doing...
I have nothing to do with AS, other than I am very happy with the engine I have had installed - see earlier thread for pictures of the installation.

very accurate opinion that I would second, keep in mind that the french engine is heavily modified, only the internals are stock.
The mods give you an incredible upgrade to the stock engine, custom made extremely low oil pan with nascar billet DAILEY engineering oil pump, STEWART water pump, BOSCH hand made alternator, Wilson butterfly intake, billet WILSON mechanical throttle body, ATI damper and 580 HP on a calibrated DYNO.
Ýou will need to change the alternator pulley (BOSCH MOTORSPORT handmade Model NASCAR 2500 EURO bosch price list !). The pulley as the french have installed is not charging below 2000 rpm. I got one from the Bosch guys here that is now charging above 1000 rpm but it would have not been too difficult to make one
on a lathe. I am pretty sure if you ask solutionF upfront they can supply this pulley. They simply did not know about this because this engine was
prepped to go into a race series at DUBAI.
The other change was to cut 40 mm of the water pump tube that is sticking out of the front, made the water hose installation easier.
I needed to order a few more SAMCO hoses and did not need all of that the factory supplied.
Also the Stewart water pump that is installed has no direct connections for the heating hoses. There is one additional DASH 12 you can use and you would have get
a SAMCO T for the second heater tube to be connected.
You will also need to shop for adaptors for the oil temp and pressure sensor and the water temp sensor that is feeding your gauges.
If you go with the Digidash all the sensors you need will come with this.
The engine has no AC compressor, so if this is something you want, you will have to look for this yourself. There is plenty of rooum when you are using this
engine as it is much smaller in the front compared to the orignal GM setup.
It is also using a WILSON butterfly with a mechanical throttle that I would always prefer to the fly by wire.
In addition I installed an additional spring because the friction of the factory throttle cable was a little too much for the spring mechanism that is
already in the throttle body. But that was a job of 10 min.
I would say that it was not really a straight drop in especially with the chassis mod that is necessary but as said would always do again and knowing that I am driving around in an almost NASCAR or LeMans prepped engine is not so bad either - gives a good feeling and to make the car special isn't that what the tuner market is all about, be different to others ?
