Well. After 4 years devoted to English sports cars, I've come over all Italian and bought a 3200GT.

I had driven an automatic over a year ago, but didn't really like it. However, I drove a manual yesterday and couldn't believe the difference. Anyway, I should take delivery in a week or so. All very exciting!

Any good insurance recommendations?

Well done, hope you like it as much as the rest of us.

I live in London and got a very good quote from the insurance company used by BMW - www.bmw.co.uk.

okay pies, I've updated my profile.

Dropped the Morgan off this morning, very sad about that , but onwards and upwards I suppose.

Am just doing the insurance calls. Liverpool Victoria are the cheapest at the moment, but won't insure me until I am 30 (in 2 weeks)! Mrs B is delighted as it means she will get to drive it until then.

I'm hopeful I will be able to beat up Tesco on price though, in which case I'll be ok.

Adrian Flux didn't even come close.

I forgot how fing dim insurance call centre people are though. The following is the start of one of my calls today, not any of the above I hasten to add.

Me: I'd like a quote please.
Call centre person: Okay, what make?
Me: Maserati.
CCP: A what?
Me: A Maserati.
CCP: Is that the model or the make:
Me: The make.
CCP: So its not a Ford? (I kid you not).
Me: No.
CCP: Could you spell that.....(continue conversation until death or insanity)

your average numpty doesn't know much about Maserati... I had some bloke over Christmas asking me how I was finding it with the 'rear doors that open backwards'... Divot thought it was a MAzda

Sounds about right. One of the things that attracted me to the car was their relative anonimity. There was a time that I wanted to attract attention. These days I want as little as possible.
