Running two 360's....transfering info question.

Setting up a second Xbox today in the kids room to keep them quiet (and to use system link so i can whoop my son...or vice versa!)

Anyway...currently have a white 360 with a 120gb hard drive.....the new elite will go where that is and the white one will go in the kids room.....so how do i get the info from the old one to the new one...or do i need to? Mine and my sons gamertags are on live so is the info "stored" somewhere and we just log on useing our live ID's? (i know i can go to xbox live and see my gamertag on line so whats stored on the actual box?)

Just swap your hard drives, that will be the easiest thing. Or you can get a transfer kit that will transfer/move everything from your old drive to your new one. But it is an all or nothing operation, no picking and choosing.

AS above other then that just keep it all on one and recovered Live ID on the new one to share

didnt realise the hard drive is black too! Cant swap as a grey drive on a black 360 will upset wifes feng shui!

set up the new one and it is downloading my gamer profile.....i suppose thats all i need isnt it? Got 2nd copy of forza ready to go and i'm away, right? although....where are things like my cars for forza stored? on the drive?

Thats right all your cars will be stored on the HDD not on the gamer tag so gonna have to start again sadly

Why will he as if he transeres it thats it only stored on one xbox plus wipes the other ones HDD. Could get a cable and copy it?

Get a microshaft memory card, this is what I have and I keep my profile on it so I can swap between consoles.

ok.....thanks people. Swapped teh HD in the end......now need a memory thingy to swap profiles back and fro.

Yeah.
Recover your Live ID to the 'new' console. Then use your memory card to move your saves over to that console. The transfer kit gives all sorts of warning about how the old drive is completely wiped in the process.
You might have to accept that some saves can't be moved and you'll have to lose them or start again.

Got it sorted now.....have got two 2gb memory cards - one for son, one for me - now we just run our profiles and forza (soon..MW2) saves on the cards and swap back and forth as need be. The HD's just carry the big downloads and the non-live profiles of the other family members who dont take it all so serious!
